A Typical Morning Session

Group play

Children arrive at Stepping Stones from 9.00 and are welcomed by their key person and the team.

We support children and families to say goodbye to each other at the entrance. Then its time to learn through creative play!

Every morning, the children enjoy and explore play areas both inside our hall and in our outside space and choose whatever they would like to do. Activities inspire learning across all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage and play areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Art and exploration
  • Reading
  • Home corner
  • Construction
  • Communication friendly spaces
  • Mud kitchen
  • Stage and creative space
  • Climbing tree
  • Sand and water
  • Bikes, trikes and scooters

Alongside these areas, every day we create new opportunities and activities and review and change our resources based on children’s interests and needs.

Reading a story

During the morning children are offered a healthy snack, which they serve and tidy up themselves.

Towards the end of the session children spend time together in smaller groups, where they enjoy an activity such as a story, rhymes or singing.

"Staff are clearly so knowledgeable about the early years."

At 12.00, families are welcomed into the setting to pick up their child.

We regularly go out on trips to the local area, hold special events and provide enhanced opportunities for children and families read more about our Community Partners.
