September 2019 Newsletter
Welcome back, we hope you all had a restful summer. It is lovely to see some old faces and to welcome some new to the Stepping Stones Family. Please ensure your child comes to school in old clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty; as the weather changes, could you please make sure they have suitable clothes for all weather; we will be outside whatever the weather! It would also be really useful if you could name clothing to help us keep track of everyone’s belongings.
When you drop off your child in the morning, please encourage them to find their name to hang on the name tree. The name tree can be found to the right of the entrance behind the green tables. In the cloakroom, your child will also have a named Stepping Stones bag; this bag is to be used in the setting for the children to store any precious items.
Allergies and Food
We have a number of children with serious allergies, we therefore request that NO FOOD ITEMS are brought into the setting without prior consent. We must do everything to keep our children safe and therefore we are a NUT FREE setting. Thank you for your cooperation.
How You Will Get Involved
As you will be aware:
- We are a charity and we are run by our pre-school community
- A Board of Trustees oversees the pre-school and our staff run and manage the setting
- Our Chair of Trustees is Kathryn Rogers:
- Every parent or carer is a family member
- Our priorities are:
- children and families
- staff and volunteers
You have all received information regarding how you can become a family member volunteer or a trustee; your child ’s key person will soon be asking how would you like to become involved.
As stated in our welcome packs we will be asking parents for contributions towards running costs, snacks and equipment. We will be in touch this month with details of how to set up your donations through Just Giving.
Please do help yourselves to books from our book library. If you have any books that you have borrowed and not yet returned; you know where they go!
As our book library is such a success, we are looking to develop a toy library; this will enable families to enjoy our puzzles and games together at home. We will be looking for volunteers to help make this project a success, so any help you can give will be much appreciated.
In order to forge stronger links with our local community and to spread a love of reading, we are soon to be hiding books in the local area; ready families to take them home to read and then to hide the books again ready for other families to find and enjoy. Again, this is something we will need your help with. If you have any children’s books that you are willing to donate to this exciting initiative, please do let us know.
Your child’s learning journey is a working document that belongs to your child, they are out for you to access at any time. The learning journey is a record of your child’s learning and contains photos and observations. Your child’s Key Person works hard on these and takes pride in adding to them; we really hope you will enjoy them too. If you do take your child’s learning journey home, please let us know; just so we know it is safe! Please do add to the learning journey so we can build an accurate picture of your child both at home and in the setting.
Please remember to inform us if your child will not be in; you can text or phone on:
07980 492 024. If we have not heard from you by 10 am, we will phone in order to ensure children are safe. You can also contact us by email at: email@example.com. Please be aware that as we do not currently have internet access in the building, so we cannot access email during pre-school hours.
You can find out about events from our web page: www.steppingstonescanterbury.org.uk/
or on Facebook, search for: Stepping Stones Preschool Canterbury. You can also follow us on Twitter at: @pre-stones.
Please do not hesitate to talk to your child’s key person if you have any questions or ideas. We are looking forward to a happy year filled with lots of happy learning through play.
Thank you from The Stepping Stones Team.
