February Newsletter

Update and dates for diary

February 2018 Newsletter.
Welcome to another busy term, we would like to start by saying: thank you very much for
helping us all get through a very challenging term. Sally was off with flu and then, very
sadly, her mum died. All the staff are very much hoping this term will be both happier and
healthier. Sally would also like to thank all the staff for going above and beyond to make sure
the children were happy and content.
Winter Clothing.
As ever, a quick reminder about appropriate clothing. The children will be outside and it will
be muddy. Please ensure your child is dressed in warm, waterproof clothing, ready to engage
and explore our great outdoors!
Book Swap
Don’t forget about the book swap; it has been lovely to see so many children and parents
enjoying the opportunity to read and swap books daily.
Loose parts play.
You may have noticed that we provide many differing resources for our children to access
and explore; we are presently aiming to make these as open ended as possible. To explain the
benefit of loose parts play further, we have produced a leaflet for you to look at in the setting.
This information is also available on our website at: www.steppingstonescanterbury.org.uk
Absence
We are sharing the advice regarding absences again:
If your child is absent for any reason, please contact us by phone or text (07980 492024). If
we have not heard from you by 10am, we will phone to see if everything is ok; in such a way
we are abiding by the latest safeguarding guidelines that exist to keep all children safe.
Dates for your Diary.
Our Easter fair is on Tuesday 27 th March from 12-2 in Kendall Hall. The Committee have
organised many activities, including: face painting, name the bunny and a colouring
competition. There will also be an egg tombola. We would love to see as many families and
friends as possible, as we continue to fund raise for coat hooks and equipment for the mud
garden. Don’t forget the Easter Bonnet parade! We invite all children to make a bonnet to
wear and parade; with prizes for all who enter. Bring a picnic and some spare change, and
hope for spring sunshine.
Comments and Suggestions
Do not forget: we have introduced a comments and suggestions section to our notice board,
here you will be able to, anonymously, if you wish to, comment on any aspect of Stepping
Stones. We look forward to reading your comments.
Miscellaneous
As ever; please do talk to your child’s key person if you have any questions, concerns or
suggestions. Don’t forget to sign up for the parents’ rota, we would be thrilled to have you
and we know your child will love it too

Thank you, The Stepping Stones Team.
